Compression quality

What are the limits?

Get a useful result

Choose resolution around what must remain readable: a receipt with small print needs more detail than a large heading. Compare the final size and zoom into the result before sending it. The compressed version consists of images and loses selectable text.

A practical example

For a scan, compare the 150, 110 and 72 DPI profiles. Lower resolution may reduce file size and readability. Choose the result that preserves the detail you need.

Why is my PDF not smaller?

An already optimized PDF or one containing mostly text may grow when converted to images. If there is no improvement, the original is offered; this does not mean pages were removed.
